Shot hole drilling required to install shot gun or explosive to develope ground vibration shock as a signal source for seismic survey.
Before work can start, site must be prepared properly; suitable drainage must be constructed and maintained throughout execution of work. Surface cleaning, leveling and light compacting might be required to support the drilling and testing works. Surface drain will provided at shothole area in such way to be possible the water splash from testing activity could be flow back into the holes.
Site Arrangement
Casing Installation
Since working at night might be necessary adequate lighting must be supplied. The lamps will installed to a stand at least 1.2 m above the ground.
The frame is portable lifting equipment which is provided to hang the pressure gun. The load capacity of the frame is 0.5 ton with 1.6m clearance distance from the ground.
As this drilling advance through the ground (rotary method) the soil inside it is automatically flushed out by the drilling fluid pressure through the annular space between outside face of the drilling rod and inside face of the boreholes. Rod stabilizer might used to maintain alignment of the drilling rod and will installed at the middle span of total drilling.
The progress of drilling measured by the number of rod penetrated into the ground. The effective length of one section rod is 1.5m. After final depth of drilling reached, a tape measuring device is lowered into the hole to check the depth. In order to minimize the sedimentation, hole cleaning works might required by using water flow from the rod to allow debris removed. The quality of water over flow from the hole will indicated the cleanness of the water inside the hole. After the over flow water is clean then the water flow stopped and the drilling rod will pull up from the hole.
The over flow water from the hole in the drilling and cleaning process will collected in the surface settling pit. The clean water at the top of settling pit flows or pumps to water pit to be re-use for drilling and cleaning operation.
The data obtained in boring are recorded in the field log (Bore log) and included the following project identification, boring number, location, orientation, date boring began, date boring completed, and drillers names, soil classifications / descriptions (hardness, color, degree of weathering, and other pertinent identities), groundwater condition, and disturbed sampling.
